The Person Behind The Strategy

My path into SEO wasn't a straight line. I started as a freelance motoring journalist at SACarFan, where I spent a year writing, attending media launches, and reviewing vehicles. That gave me a deep appreciation for how to write content that people actually want to read - a skill that still sits at the core of everything I do.


From there I moved into digital marketing at Social Path, first as an intern and then as a social media content coordinator. That's where I got my hands dirty with content strategy and community building. I then took on a dual role at Holiday Inn Johannesburg Sunnyside Park - starting as a digital marketing coordinator before being promoted to Digital and E-Commerce Marketing Manager, where I ran SEO, SEM, email, social, and display campaigns across the hotel's digital presence.


In 2021, I joined IMS Ad Agency as an SEO Specialist, where I spent two and a half years doing keyword research, technical optimisation, content strategy, and UX-driven conversion work across a range of clients. That's where I sharpened the dual SEO-and-CRO skill set that defines my approach today.

Since August 2023, I've been a Senior SEO and CRO Specialist at Flume Digital Marketing - one of South Africa's leading digital agencies. At Flume, I work across major accounts and have had the privilege of representing the agency at industry events, including the first-ever Google Search Central event held live in South Africa, where I learned directly from Google's John Mueller and Martin Splitt.

How I Think About SEO & CRO

I'm not someone who just looks at keyword volumes and calls it a strategy.


I study how people search, why they search, and what happens when they land on your site. I've written about how neuroscience impacts conversion rates - concepts like pattern blindness, semantic satiation, and how the brain's threat responses can kill a landing page before a visitor even reads the headline.


That's the difference between someone who optimises pages and someone who understands people. SEO gets them to your door. CRO makes sure they walk through it. I do both.
